Fluoropolymer particles are subjected to high energy treatment so as to change the chemical functionality of the particle surfaces and thereby change the surface characteristics of the particles. These characteristics improve the usefulness of these particles and can make them highly dispersible, even in water. The surface treated fluoropolymer particles are subject to a chemical crosslinking process, or alternatively, are subject to a high energy treatment process, and may optionally be pretreated with a macromolecular chemical species prior to the foregoing processes. The high energy treatment can be used to both surface treat the fluoropolymer particles and in some embodiments, may also cause chain scission of the fluoropolymers to thereby reduce the molecular weight of the fluoropolymer particles. The surface treated fluoropolymer particles can be used to form fluoropolymer coatings on various substrates.

The present invention provides an improved process for the preparation of MgO of high purity >99% from salt bitterns via intermediate formation of Mg(OH)2 obtained from the reaction of MgCl2 and lime, albeit indirectly, i.e., MgCl2 is first reacted with NH3 in aqueous medium and the slurry is then filtered with ease. The resultant NH4Cl-containing filtrate is then treated with any lime, to regenerate NH3 while the lime itself gets transformed into CaCl2 that is used for desulphatation of bittern so as to recover carnallite and thereafter MgCl2 of desired quality required in the present invention. The crude Mg(OH)2 is dried and calcined directly to produce pure MgO, taking advantage of the fact that adhering impurities in the Mg(OH)2 either volatilize away or get transformed into the desired product, i.e., MgO.

A wafer having a silicon layer that is strained is used to form transistors. The silicon layer is formed by first forming a silicon germanium (SiGe) layer of at least 30 percent germanium that has relaxed strain on a donor wafer. A thin silicon layer is epitaxially grown to have tensile strain on the relaxed SiGe layer. The amount tensile strain is related to the germanium concentration. A high temperature oxide (HTO) layer is formed on the thin silicon layer by reacting dichlorosilane and nitrous oxide at a temperature of preferably between 800 and 850 degrees Celsius. A handle wafer is provided with a supporting substrate and an oxide layer that is then bonded to the HTO layer. The HTO layer, being high density, is able to hold the tensile strain of the thin silicon layer. The relaxed SiGe layer is cleaved then etched away to expose the thin silicon layer. A low temperature silicon layer is then epitaxially grown with tensile strain, correlated to the tensile strain of the thin silicon layer, on the thin silicon layer using trisilane at a temperature preferably not in excess of 500 degrees Celsius. The resulting tensile strain, correlated to the strain of the thin silicon layer, is thus also correlated to the germanium concentration of the relaxed SiGe layer. The thickness of the low temperature silicon layer, using the trisilane at low temperature, is significantly greater than what would normally be expected for a silicon layer of that tensile strain.

A device for use in the total cavopulmonary connection (TCPC) in order to optimize its hemodynamics. Although the current procedure of choice for single ventricle heart repairs, the TCPC has reduced the post-operative mortality to the level of simpler types of congenital heart disease repairs, Fontan patients are still subjected to serious long-term complications. The TCPC procedure, which restores the vital separation between oxygenated and deoxygenated blood, also leads to an increased workload for the remaining single ventricle, as it is now responsible for pumping the blood through both the systemic and pulmonary circulation. The present device reduces this workload by altering the surgically created design of the TCPC. Improved fluid mechanics and reduced energy dissipation at the connection site translates into less work for the single ventricle and improved transport of deoxygenated blood to the lungs, which may in turn contribute to improved post-operative results and quality of life.

A game is comprised of a plurality of stages. Each operation of the game begins with the operation of a first stage. Depending on the outcome of the first stage the game may be over, or there may be an operation of a second stage. Depending on the outcome of the second stage, the game may be over or there may be an operation of another stage. This sequence continues until the game ends or until the final (nth) stage has been operated, at which time the game ends. Wagers are made on successive stages of the multi-stage game. Each stage of the game may typically have its own paytable or payout scheme, and its own expected return. A bet made on a stage of the game which is not played is lost in the preferred form of the invention. One embodiment is a three stage, multi-line, multi-coin video slot machine. The same game format (slots) with the same paytable is operated on three stages, with increasing payout multipliers at each stage providing an increasing amount to win at the higher stages. The “spin” at each stage is independent of the previous stages. The second embodiment is a multi-stage Five-Card Stud poker game. Each stage is again independent of the previous stage. A variation of this game is also shown which uses the same paytable on each stage, but combined with a mechanism to increase the “hit” rate. A third embodiment is a Draw poker game that combines the concepts of the Stud poker embodiment with the decisions and optimal play analysis that are integral to Draw poker. The fourth embodiment is a dice game which has been adapted to provide a high dependency between the first stage and the next stages.

A flag warning system is paramount because it increases the safety of a dock-loading area. Often times, workers and machinery are moving in and out of trailers to either load or unload trailers, and it is important to insure that the truck is not moved inadvertently, thereby preventing damage to individuals and equipment. This is a simple dock warning system that will alert the driver by simply rotating a flag so that the flag is either visible or not visible to alert the driver to move or not move the trailer. When the flag is visible to the driver when he or she looks in the rearview mirror, the load is safe to be pulled. If the driver does not see the flag, he or she should not pull the load.
