The machine operates prior to a transaction to determine whether the record can be fully downloaded from the server address. Based on a successful determination, the machine can then fully download the record from the address during a transaction that needs the record. The pre-check arrangement reduces transaction time outs that may occur as a result of futile attempts by the machine to access an unavailable record during a transaction.

A heat regenerative engine uses water as both the working fluid and the lubricant. In operation, water is pumped from a collection pan and through a coil around a cylinder exhaust port, causing the water to be preheated by steam exhausted from the cylinder. The preheated water then enters a steam generator and is heated by a combustion chamber to produce high pressure super heated steam. Air is preheated in a heat exchanger and is then mixed with fuel from a fuel atomizer. An igniter burns the atomized fuel as the flames and heat are directed in a centrifuge within the combustion chamber. The speed and torque of the engine are controlled by a rocker and cam arrangement which opens a needle-type valve to inject high pressure super heated steam into a cylinder having a reciprocating piston therein. The injected steam expands in an explosive action on the top of the piston at high pressure forcing the piston down and drivingly rotating a linked crank cam and crankshaft. Exhaust steam is directed through a centrifugal condenser having an arrangement of flat plates. Cooling air from blowers circulates through the flat plates to condense the steam to a liquid state. The water condensation is returned to the collection pan for subsequent use in steam generation.

The present invention provides a system and method for managing load and store operations necessary for reading from and writing to memory or I/O in a superscalar RISC architecture environment. To perform this task, a load store unit is provided whose main purpose is to make load requests out of order whenever possible to get the load data back for use by an instruction execution unit as quickly as possible. A load operation can only be performed out of order if there are no address collisions and no write pendings. An address collision occurs when a read is requested at a memory location where an older instruction will be writing. Write pending refers to the case where an older instruction requests a store operation, but the store address has not yet been calculated. The data cache unit returns 8 bytes of unaligned data. The load/store unit aligns this data properly before it is returned to the instruction execution unit. Thus, the three main tasks of the load store unit are: (1) handling out of order cache requests; (2) detecting address collisions; and (3) alignment of data.

A method for providing field updates through the use of a memory emulation circuit with a content addressable memory (CAM) as the intelligent portion of the emulation circuit's arbiter. CAM circuit 200 is comprised of configurable memory and is initially unprogrammed. Address requests are passed straight through multiplexer 201 to Read Only Memory (ROM) 202. As a result the data in the data location in ROM 202 that corresponds to the requested address will be output to data bus 205. If data locations in ROM 202 become defective or contain data that needs to be upgraded the circuit implements a remapping of the data location. CAM circuit 200 is programmed with direct addresses to be replaced in ROM 202. The direct addresses are paired to emulation addresses of data locations in configurable memory 203. Upgraded or substitute data is programmed into the configurable memory 203 at the paired emulation address. When address requests are received thereafter, CAM circuit 200 compares the address request to its stored direct addresses. If a match is found the paired emulation address is passed through multiplexer 201 instead of the direct address. As a result, the substitute or upgraded data in configurable memory 203 is output to data bus 205 in place of the old data.

Upstream devices, such as load balancers or routers, within a server farm, may be configured to route requests to the servers handling sessions for those requests using a secure (e.g. encrypted) unique ID or network address received with requests identifying how requests may be routed through the server farm. Upstream devices or a server receiving a request that is not associated with a session may generate a unique ID or select a network address identifying how the request is routed through the server farm. The server handling the request forms a session ID and returns that session ID and the unique ID to the client that originated the request. Encryption may be performed on network addresses or session IDs. Upon receiving a request corresponding to an established session, an upstream device may then decrypt routing information from the encrypted unique ID or network address and send the request downstream accordingly.

A floating-point number is encoded into a binary string. A left-to-right comparison of the binary string determines relative magnitude of the floating-point number. If the floating-point number is negative, then take an absolute value of the floating-point number. The resulting binary string conversion is then complemented. If the floating-point number is zero, then a value for the binary string is assigned. The value is a “1” followed by a plurality of “0”s. A portion of each byte of the binary string determines whether another byte follows in the binary string. A value of a bit of each byte of the binary string determines whether another byte follows. Generally, the present invention applies a transformation to convert a probability distribution of gene expression signals in control samples to a uniform distribution. The uniform distribution allows better comparisons between expression levels for genes. The transformation is derived from gene expression signals of control data, and is applied to gene expression signals of phenotype data. The phenotype data can be represented in a matrix format. A number of gene expression patterns may be determined (in the form of submatrices) that will characterize the phenotype. The uniform distribution helps in this regard, as it allows better comparisons of patterns. The gene expression patterns can then be used to classify samples as belonging to the phenotype set. Preferably, a discriminant function is used to compare a sample with the gene expression patterns that characterize the phenotype. The discriminant function can determine a score that can be used to determine whether the sample belongs to the phenotype.

The Pain relief device used to relieve pain and promote faster healing in the bodies of humans and animals safely. A positive electrode touches the skin at the site of an injury and a negative electrode completely shielded with insulation is place on the skin at a spaced distance form the positive electrode. A low voltage direct current power source supplies a positive voltage to the positive electrode and a negative voltage to the negative electrode. Electrical stimulation occurs harmlessly, because the shielded negatively charged electrode or insulated pad, being an insulated sheet of aluminum foil produces an electric field in the body that is strong enough to cause a current to flow into the body at the site of the positive electrode. However, no current can flow at the site of the negative electrode because it is insulated and therefore no burns to the skin.

This document discusses brain stimulation models, systems, devices, and methods, such as for deep brain stimulation (DBS) or other electrical stimulation. A model computes a volume of influence region for a simulated electrical stimulation using certain stimulation parameters, such as electrode contact selection or location. The model uses a non-uniform tissue conductivity. This accurately represents brain tissue, which has highly directionally conductive neuron pathways yielding a non-homogeneous and anisotropic tissue medium. In one example, a second difference of an electric potential distribution is used to define a volume of activation (VOA) or similar volume of influence. In another example, a neuron or axon model is used to calculate the volume of influence without computing the second difference of the electric potential distribution.

An application (1, 10, 20) in a mobile network, receives an EIR trigger (MAP CHECK_IMEI). The application generates a signature derived from a device identifier (IMEI) and a subscriber identifier (e.g. IMSI), the signature not having a semantic meaning as it is pseudo-randomly generated. The application (1, 10, 20) checks if the signature exists in a signature store (2, 11, 21); and if not, determines that the device/subscriber combination has not been detected in the network within a certain preceding time window, and stores the signature in the store, with an associated timestamp. It also transmits a notification to an external system such as a device management system. If the signature is already in the database, the application determines that the device/subscriber combination already exists in the network and updates a time stamp associated with the signature in the store to indicate the last time the signature was processed.
