Methods, systems and apparatuses of ultra-miniature, ultra-compliant probe arrays that allows for design flexibility to match the stiffness of the tissue it is being applied to, such as the brain tissue, in all three axes (x, y and z), with interconnect cross section smaller than cell dimensions. Stiffness matching requires specific geometric and fabrication approaches, commonly leading to ultra-thin probe wires. Sizing of the electrodes for specific cell dimensions reduces glial formation. Further reduction in stiffness is obtained by incorporating different geometric features to the electrode, such as meandering the electrode wires. The small thickness and geometric features of the wires commonly result in very high compliance. To enable effective insertion of the probes to the tissue, the present invention uses stiff biodisolvable and/or biodegradable polymers, including single use or combinations of carboxymethyl cellulose, polyvinylpyrrolidone, polyvinyl alcohol, maltose, other sugar molecules, polylactic acid and its co-polymers.

The invention encompasses devices and methods used to provide wound closure based on rings positioned within the tissue layers of the wound opening (with the rings regionally separate the wound depth tissue layers into 2 compartments), followed by suture transport through the rings and full-thickness tissue layers of both compartments. Upon suture transport via synchronous or asynchronous manner and device removal, wound closure is achieved by tying the 2 ends of the suture without incorporating tissue above the level of the rings such as skin. When the device is applied to abdominal or chest wall wound opening, all tissue layers except the skin are incorporated in the suture closure of the wound. The closure process can be performed in a simple, reliable, and expeditious manner.

The invention relates to a cognitive SIMO network access method based on cooperative relay, wherein a cognitive base station collects channel responses in a network and judges whether the cognitive users can cooperate with a primary user to achieve the target transmission rate required by the primary user or not, if so, a cognitive SIMO network is accessible to a frequency band licensed to the primary user; otherwise, the cognitive SIMO network is non-accessible. The access method can enable a plurality of the cognitive users and the primary user to simultaneously use the same licensed spectrum in the same geographical position, on the premise of ensuring the target transmission rate of the primary user, and further improve the utilization efficiency of the spectrum as far as possible. As the access method is based on cooperative communication, the nearer the distance from the cognitive network to the primary network is, the greater the network throughput can be achieved; and furthermore, a large-range network coverage can be realized, so the deficiencies in the existing cognitive radio access ways are made up.

Such criteria for accumulation may be based on a Quality of Service (QoS) category, the station address, or the station type. The station may set accumulation parameters, such as a maximum occupied buffer size or a maximum time for which a station's packets are delayed for accumulation.

A hybrid bitmap-mode video coding system encodes and decodes a plurality of video frames with optimized coding performance. The coding system filters a video frame to determine an appropriate encoding mode. In response to the video frame to be encoded in bitmap-mode, the coding system generates a bitmap and DCT-type data of the video frame. The bitmap data of the video frame are encoded losslessly to keep the high quality of the video frame. The DCT-type data of the video frame are encoded with compression. The bitmap-mode encoding enables the coding system to flexibly encode part of a video frame data lossless and encode the rest of the frame data lossy. As such, the lossless encoding of the frame provides high quality of important data of the frame, and at the same time maintains high compression ratio on less important data of the frame.

A method is provided for preventing denial-of-service attacks on hosts attached to a subnet, where the attacks are initiated by a remote node over an external network. The method is performed by a router which forwards packets between the external network and the subnet. The router receives a packet for forwarding to a destination address in an address space of the subnet according to the IPv6 protocol and looks up the destination address in a Neighbor Discovery (ND) table. The ND table is populated by operations on the subnet that were completed prior to receipt of the packet. Entries in the ND table store address information of the hosts that have been verified by the router to be active. The router forwards the packet to the destination address if the destination address is stored in the ND table. Otherwise, the packet is discarded.

An image processing device controls a local resource, retrieves data files from a network, generates partial images from data included in the data files, and displays an image by combining the plurality of partial images. The partial images include first partial images that require access to the local resource and second partial images that do not require such access. Access to the local resource takes place by request and is controlled so that generation of the first partial images requires authentication of the retrieved data files. While authentication is in progress, the image processing device disallows access to the local resource and displays an image by combining the second partial images with a notification image indicating that authentication is being performed.

A confidence-based authentication discovery scheme is implemented at a proxy. The scheme assumes that some level of unauthenticated browsing is allowed prior to enforcing authentication at the proxy. Once a known and trusted set of identity providers has been accessed and the user is required to authenticate at the proxy (e.g., as a result of policy), the proxy initiates Federated Single Sign-On (F-SSO) to one or more (or, preferably, all) known sites accessed by the browser. This F-SSO operation is performed seamlessly, preferably without the user's knowledge (after the user allows an initial trust decision between the proxy acting as a service provider and the external identity provider). The proxy collates the results and, based on the trust it has with those sites, produces a confidence score. That score is then used as input into policy around whether or not a user should be permitted to access a particular site.

The embodiments of the present invention provide a solution for simplifying data transmission between a mobile device and a static destination address. This is achieved by introducing a new network node referred to as a VPC connector. The VPC connector is associated with a gateway of the operator network such as a GGSN. The VPC connector has access to a static first mapping between a subscriber identity associated with the mobile device and a static destination address to which the data from the mobile device should be sent. In order for the gateway to be able to route data from the mobile device to the correct static destination address, the gateway sends a dynamic second mapping between a temporary IP address of the mobile device and the subscriber identity associated with the mobile device to the network node referred to as the VPC connector. When the GGSN receives data from the temporary IP address of the mobile device, the GGSN requests information of the VPC address to which the GGSN should route that data. Since, the VPC connector can identify from which IP address the data is received, the VPC connector can then retrieve the VPC address by using the static first mapping and the dynamic second mapping.

The present invention provides methods and devices for implementing a Low Latency Ethernet (“LLE”) solution, also referred to herein as a Data Center Ethernet (“DCE”) solution, which simplifies the connectivity of data centers and provides a high bandwidth, low latency network for carrying Ethernet and storage traffic. Some aspects of the invention involve transforming FC frames into a format suitable for transport on an Ethernet. Some preferred implementations of the invention implement multiple virtual lanes (“VLs”) in a single physical connection of a data center or similar network. Some VLs are “drop” VLs, with Ethernet-like behavior, and others are “no-drop” lanes with FC-like behavior. Some preferred implementations of the invention provide guaranteed bandwidth based on credits and VL. Active buffer management allows for both high reliability and low latency while using small frame buffers. Preferably, the rules for active buffer management are different for drop and no drop VLs.

Techniques are described for providing traffic-aware sampling rate adjustment within network devices. As inbound packets are received at an interface, a sampling unit of a forwarding circuit of the network device samples the inbound packets at a current sampling rate and directs a subset of the inbound packets to a service card of the network device. A flow controller within the service card of the network device processes the subset of the inbound packets to generate flow records. When changes in the rate at which the inbound packets are received exceed a defined threshold, the flow controller adjusts the current sampling rate at which the forwarding circuit samples the inbound packets received at the interface. Moreover, the flow controller adaptively adjusts the sampling rate such that the flow sampling resources the device are being utilized in accordance with the utilization thresholds.
